2020 Recruitment is working with one of our engineering clients who are looking to add a Buyer to their site in the Manchester area on an initial 6-month contract.

This role will require a person with high levels of computer literacy and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation while developing relationships with key stakeholders such as Suppliers, Demand Coordinators, Supply Coordinators, QA, and Engineers.

The Role

Key duties will include procurement of materials and services to support the manufacturing of finished goods and ensuring OTDIF through targeted expediting. Portfolio management and developing strong relationships with current and potential suppliers to maximise commercial advantage in line with quality programs and initiatives will be critical to success

Responsibilities & Duties

As the Buyer your duties will include the following:

  • Processing purchase & work orders in line with MRP suggestions
  • Liaise closely with QA to manage supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve.
  • Processing purchase orders for non-inventory items inclusive of but not limited to Consumables, Maintenance requirements, etc
  • Expediting suppliers/processes to meet OTIF requirements
  • You will monitor and actively find solutions to achieve favorable price variance with your suppliers
  • Update your downstream stakeholders of any expected impacts to delivery schedules
  • Liaise closely with your suppliers / internal stakeholders to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Processing purchase & work orders in line with outsourcing requirements
  • Ensure all company policies regarding code of conduct, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met

Requirements

To be considered for the Buyer position you must have the following skills & experience:

  • Working knowledge of Purchasing / Planning
  • Knowledge of billing practices and controls
  • Ability to effectively work with employees, supervisors, vendors and customers
  • General computer knowledge including the use the Microsoft Office programs

Package

On offer for the successful candidate is:

  • 6-month contract
  • £16ph
  • Working hours 07.30-16.00
