Finance Assistant - Edinburgh

2020 Recruitment are working with an Edinburgh based Investment Management firm who are looking to add a Finance Assistant to their team on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be working within a successful organisation that has seen its turnover grow year on year.

The Role

As the Finance Assistant you will be responsible, both personally and as part of the wider team, to liaise and work with clients to prepare the elements of our monthly and quarterly financial reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Finance Assistant your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Processing of invoices and expenses onto Xero and the companies fund administration system.
  • Preparing payment runs and setting up bank payments online.
  • Liaising with finance team to ensure invoice information is correct and allocated accurately, liaising with clients where information is not clear or contradictory.
  • Ensuring accurate & timely delivery of all reconciliation reports and bank payments set up within client and company deadlines.
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns and compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
  • Review of monthly bank reconciliations, client invoices, expense reports and payment authorisation prepared by an Assistant Accountant.
  • Provide appropriate challenge to clients and auditors to ensure good governance and best practices for each fund.
  • Ensuring that procedures, practices, and systems are operated, maintained and developed to properly control the client side of the business and ensure all systems are adequately documented.

Requirements

To be considered for the Finance Assistant position you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Recently or soon to be qualified accountant with experience in financial services.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and confidence to deal with all levels of seniority.
  • Experience in fund accounting, statutory accounts for limited companies and partnerships.
  • Experience in preparation of management accounts including dealing with third parties to ensure the financial information contained within the accounts is complete.
  • Experience in property fund or private equity accounting would be especially relevant.
  • Experience in Excel, Word, Investran and Sage Line 50
  • Right to work within the UK
