Business Development Executive - West Lothian

2020 Recruitment are working with one of our engineering clients that work within the decommissioning sector, who are looking to add a Business Development Executive to their team on a permanent basis.

Based out of the Central Belt office you will be covering the UK and European markets for new opportunities as well as developing the clients already in place.

This role demands a combination of technical expertise, market knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills.

The Role

As a Business Development Executive in the decommissioning sector, your primary responsibility will be to identify and secure new business opportunities for the company within multiple markets. You will play a crucial role in expanding their presence and driving revenue growth within the decommissioning industry.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Business Development Executive your duties will include the following:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients, industry trends, and emerging opportunities within the decommissioning sector in the UK and Europe.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in target organisations. Identify and approach potential clients, understanding their needs, and presenting tailored solutions.
  • Prepare compelling proposals and presentations that outline our services, capabilities, and competitive advantages.
  • Lead negotiations, address objections, and work towards closing deals that are mutually beneficial for both the company and clients.
  • Explore opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations with other industry players to expand reach and capabilities.
  • Identify and evaluate potential new markets or regions for business expansion and develop strategies to penetrate these markets effectively.


To be considered for the Business Development Executive role you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Environmental Science).
  • Several years of experience in business development or sales, preferably in the oil & gas or decommissioning sector.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and client requirements.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical experts, legal, and finance teams.
  • Proven track record of successful sales and business development within the decommissioning or oil & gas sector.
  • Proficiency in using market analysis tools and techniques to make data-driven decisions.
