Electrical Maintenance Technician

Biomass Power Station | Fife | Permanent | Dayshift

2020 Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established biomass power station in Fife to recruit an Electrical Maintenance Technician on a permanent basis.

This is a dayshift role operating on a two-week rotating pattern:

  • Week 1: 40 hours
  • Week 2: 36 hours (Friday afternoons off)

The Role

As the Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, reactive, and defect maintenance to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the electrical systems and plant.

You will play a key role in maintaining plant availability and output while ensuring all work is carried out in line with site safety procedures and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Carrying out routine and non-routine electrical maintenance activities in line with approved procedures
  • Fault-finding and diagnosis on electrical systems, instrumentation, and associated plant equipment
  • Supporting out-of-hours issues to maximise station availability and performance
  • Investigating electrical plant faults and implementing effective corrective actions
  • Completing electrical isolation, testing, and reinstatement safely and compliantly
  • Monitoring plant condition and identifying potential failures before they occur
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate maintenance records and technical reports
  • Supporting maintenance planning to ensure adequate resources and spares are available
  • Ensuring strict adherence to site SHE policies and safe systems of work
  • Supervising contractors and other staff when required
  • Providing cover for the Operations & Maintenance Coordinator role as needed
  • Maintaining a clear understanding of cost implications, downtime, and power generation output within your area of responsibility

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A time-served electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • Previous experience in an electrical maintenance role within power generation, utilities, CHP, EfW, or heavy process environments
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience working on industrial electrical systems, motors, drives, panels, and control equipment
  • Familiarity with Sertica and Rivo CMMS software (or similar maintenance management systems)
  • A strong awareness of health & safety in high-risk industrial environments
  • The ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
  • Own transport and the right to work in the UK
