Forklift Operator

Walkden | 6 Month Contract | £19.19 per hour PAYE

2020 Recruitment are delighted to be working with our international engineering and industrial gases client who is looking to add a Forklift Operator to their team in Walkden on a 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global organisation operating in over 50 countries worldwide. The successful candidate will play a key role within a busy chemical plant environment, supporting production, logistics and operational activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

Contract Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 Months
  • Pay Rate: £19.19 per hour PAYE
  • Inside IR35
  • Fully Site-Based
  • 39 Hours Per Week
  • Monday to Thursday: 8 hours per day
  • Friday: 7 hours per day
  • Shift Options:
    • 8:00am – 4:00pm
    • 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Overtime Available

The Role

As the Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for supporting plant operations through the safe handling, movement and inspection of cylinders and products while ensuring compliance with site procedures and health & safety standards.

You will work closely with operational teams to maintain production efficiency, product quality and site safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently throughout the site
  • Load, unload and transport cylinders, pallets and products
  • Carry out cylinder, valve and pack inspections
  • Assist with refurbishment and re-validation activities
  • Complete process and operational documentation accurately
  • Receive incoming products and verify conformity to specifications
  • Conduct product quality checks and inspections
  • Escalate operational issues and faults as required
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organised and compliant
  • Support wider operational activities as required
  • Utilise computer systems for data entry and documentation

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence
  • Previous experience working within a chemical plant environment
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or industrial operations
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety procedures
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy
  • GCSE qualifications or equivalent
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • The right to work in the UK
