Head Chef | Cupar
2020 Recruitment are working with a gastropub in Cupar who are looking for a Head Chef to lead their kitchen team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced chef who enjoys producing quality food, developing menus and creating a kitchen where people work well together.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll lead the team through service, maintain food standards and manage the preparation and planning needed to deliver a consistent experience for guests.
Duties & Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Lead, train and support the kitchen team.
- Plan menus and specials that suit the gastropub and its customers.
- Maintain consistent standards of food preparation, presentation and service.
- Manage stock, ordering, portion control and food costs.
- Organise kitchen rotas and preparation to support busy services.
- Ensure food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures are followed.
- Work closely with the Bar and Restaurant Manager to plan for bookings, events and seasonal demand.
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-run kitchen.
Requirements
To be considered, you should have:
- Experience as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role.
- A strong background in fresh food and the ability to deliver consistently during busy services.
- Experience leading and developing a kitchen team.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and allergen management.
- The ability to manage stock and costs without compromising quality.
- A calm, practical approach to solving problems.
- The right to work in the UK is essential.
Working Hours
With food being served from 12pm – 9pm the Head Chef will work between 30 and 45 hours per week with the kitchen closing between 3pm – 5pm.
The Head Chef will also be expected to work on Christmas Day with staggered sittings throughout the day.
Pay
As the Head Chef you will be offered a pay rate of £15ph as well as tips with both being paid on a weekly basis.
