Maintenance Engineer - Fife

2020 Recruitment are recruiting for experienced Maintenance Engineers who can support a busy food manufacturing site based in Kirkcaldy. This role is hands-on, covering both reactive and preventative electrical and mechanical maintenance across a wide range of production machinery and equipment.

Hours of Work

You’ll work on a 3-shift rotation (40 hours per week):

  • Monday–Friday: 6am–2pm & 2pm–10pm
  • Sunday–Thursday: 10pm–6am

Main Responsibilities

As the Maintenance Engineer your duties will include:

  • Keep machinery and equipment running smoothly to meet production demand
  • React quickly to breakdowns, minimising downtime
  • Deliver the preventative maintenance programme and continuously improve it
  • Install and set up machinery when required
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager, colleagues, and production teams to meet targets and priorities
  • Support operators with machine changes, ensuring parts are ready for quick turnaround
  • Monitor and control spare parts and critical stock levels
  • Maintain compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and COSHH regulations

Requirements

To be considered for the Maintenance Engineer role you must have the following:

  • Time-served electrical/mechanical engineer (essential)
  • HNC level qualification (desirable)
  • Previous experience within Food or FMCG manufacturing (desirable)
  • A broad technical skillset – confident with maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative work across a variety of equipment 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults on electrical motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and other production equipment
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum
  • Troubleshoot issues quickly, implementing effective corrective actions
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure documentation is always audit-ready
  • Have the right to work in the UK
