Maintenance Technician – Marine & Subsea Engineering - Fife
£40,000 per annum | Monday–Friday 8:00–4:30
We are recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join a specialist marine and environmental services business working within its subsea cable operations. This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the maintenance, repair, and mobilisation of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment used in complex offshore projects.
This role suits a time-served technician who is confident fault-finding across multiple systems, enjoys practical engineering work, and takes pride in doing things properly and safely.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of specialist equipment used in cable handling and subsea operations. This includes planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and pre-mobilisation checks to ensure equipment is fully operational and safe for use on projects.
You will also support mobilisation activities for offshore work and contribute to keeping workshop and operational standards high.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
- Carry out planned, preventative, and condition-based maintenance
- Complete pre-mobilisation inspections and readiness checks
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults
- Strip down, inspect, and rebuild hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, and motors
- Support mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment for offshore projects
- Accurately record all maintenance activity on company systems
- Ensure safe use of tools, lifting equipment, and machinery at all times
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Support apprentices and share technical knowledge where required
What We’re Looking For
- Time-served or strong experience as a Mechanical / Electrical Technician
- Confident fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Experience using maintenance or asset management systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong practical engineering mindset with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and basic IT skills
- Right to work in the UK
Hours & Pay
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
- £40,000 per annum
- Very occasional working away required, fully paid with an uplift applied when off-site
