Materials Bulk Controller - South East England

2020 Recruitment are looking for an experienced Materials Bulk Controller to join our global Engineering client on a 6 month contract. This is a full time office based role located in Hersham.

 

 

Main Role Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of bulk material reporting tools and provision of ongoing support/guidance to the AP Electrical Community, ensuring consistency across global projects. Working closely with the Smart Electrical Database Team, this role forms a critical part of the data-transition underway for the Electrical discipline at Air products, being undertaken to better enable us to execute projects on schedule and budget (hours/capital), to ensure profitability is maintained.
  • Required to work flexibly with the other regional offices whilst coordinating with the wider GEMTE team to facilitate efficient and effective project execution with respect to consistent Materials reporting for Requisition/purchase and Construction planning.
  • Whilst this is primarily a Materials Control role, dependent on workload, provision of Electrical design and draughting services to one or more projects may also be required.

 

 

Role Requirements:

             

This position is accountable for the following end results:
 

  • Development and maintenance of global standards for Bulk Material codes and reporting methodologies.
  • Creating guidance materials for the Global Electrical community to ensure consistency of data collection across all regions and all projects, to both IEC and NEC standards.
  • Working closely with the Smart Electrical and Smart 3D teams to help develop the methods for gathering data from the existing Smart tools.
  • Become the global focal point for troubleshooting and comms for the Electrical community with respect to Bulk Material data collection and reporting.     
  • Execute Electrical design and drafting activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
  • Check / Prepare Electrical drawings and design deliverables such as layouts (earthing, lighting, cable routing), single line drawings, control schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams etal., to the required technical quality with minimal guidance from engineering.
  • Creation of requisitions to go into SMat for purchase of equipment
  • Create discipline deliverables and packages required for transfer of a project’s technical information from design to construction and operation.
  • Contribute to review and assessment of working practices and systems to continuously improve systems, personal and team performance.
  • Carry out site visits when necessary.
  • Develop labor estimates, schedules, attend meetings, and supervise other design resources as required.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong Electrical bulk materials knowledge – MTO production, bulk materials procurement, site material control experience or similar.
  • Experience with data management (cable schedules, MTOs, Equipment lists in Excel as a minimum); Smart Electrical or other database application experience preferred.
  • +10 years design experience in the energy or other process plants
  • +5 years 3d modelling experience (S3D or PDMS preferred)
  • 2D Cad experience (Microstation or AutoCAD)
  • Lighting calculations. (Chalmlite or DIALux Preferred)
  • Exposure to Electrical or instrument design databases.
  • Has or is working towards an electrical qualification (HNC/ HND)
