2020 Recruitment are working with our pharmaceutical client to add an experienced Materials Controller to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management, control, and distribution of materials across site operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant procedures.
This position is based within both laboratory and stores environments. Suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. The role requires regular walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying of stock items. Manual handling training and aids will be available.
Key Responsibilities
As the Materials Controller your duties will include:
- Receive and process all incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
- Manage inventory using internal inventory management software.
- Prepare and distribute orders through internal delivery systems.
- Undertake portering and replenishment activities for laboratory satellite stores and points of use.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all work areas.
- Collect and deliver parcels across site as required.
- Support site health and safety compliance, identifying and delivering improvements where required.
- Participate in SHE and service audits and lead on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Complete all required online safety modules within designated timeframes.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for the Materials Controller role you must have the following:
- Previous experience within a stores, warehouse, or inventory management environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant IT systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Sigma processes is advantageous.
- Experience working within a GMP environment and awareness of SHE/GMP regulations is beneficial.
- Must hold a clean, valid UK driving licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Reliable team player demonstrating commitment and professionalism.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks (training provided).
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required to support operational needs.
