Mechanical Fitter - Fife

2020 Recruitment are working with our Fife based engineering client who are looking to add Mechanical Fitters to their team.

This is a permanent contract and offers the opportunity of career progression as well as working for a market leader in their industry.

This position will be based in Glenrothes, but you will also be expected to work at other sites within the UK and offshore.

The Role

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components, machines, and systems. This role ensures that mechanical equipment and systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Fitter your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, conveyors, gears, and other machinery.
  • Perform precision alignment and adjustment of machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts and components, ensuring that the correct materials and procedures are used.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues through diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules to proactively address potential problems and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including service reports and equipment histories.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and practices, ensuring that all mechanical systems are safe for operation.
  • Properly use and maintain hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and specialized equipment.
  • Stay updated on new equipment models, technologies, and maintenance methods through continuous training and professional development.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for the Mechanical Fitter role you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong experience in hydraulic or mechanical background
  • Demonstrates a high standard in completion of tasks associated with the role of mechanical fitter as defined in the key responsibilities above.
  • Relevant certification or qualification in mechanical fitting or a similar discipline
  • Confident and with an ability to work unsupervised and work on own initiative.
