2020 Recruitment are working with a manufacturing client based in Edinburgh who are looking to add a Multi-Skilled Engineer to their team.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime, and supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
You will perform both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of machinery including:

Extruders
-
Conveyors
-
Granulators
-
Cooling systems
Duties & Responsibilities

Electrical and Mechanical Support: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using a hands-on approach.

Process Optimisation: Work closely with production and quality teams to enhance machine performance and product quality.

Preventative Maintenance: Implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules to improve equipment uptime and lifespan.

Installation & Commissioning: Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.

Health & Safety: Ensure work is carried out in compliance with all relevant safety standards and company policies.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment modifications.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives, identifying areas to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with automated machinery and control systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods
- Qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with solid knowledge of both
- PLC programming experience (advantageous)
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering – higher qualifications desirable
- Strong Health & Safety awareness
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility
- Reside within a commutable distance of the site
- Must have right to work in the UK
