📅 Permanent Position | 4 on 4 off Rotation (12-hour Days & Nights)
💰 Salary: Circa £49K

2020 Recruitment are working with a manufacturing client based in Edinburgh who are looking to add a Multi-Skilled Engineer to their team.


The Role

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime, and supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

You will perform both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of machinery including:

  • Extruders

  • Conveyors

  • Granulators

  • Cooling systems


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Electrical and Mechanical Support: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using a hands-on approach.

  • Process Optimisation: Work closely with production and quality teams to enhance machine performance and product quality.

  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules to improve equipment uptime and lifespan.

  • Installation & Commissioning: Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.

  • Health & Safety: Ensure work is carried out in compliance with all relevant safety standards and company policies.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment modifications.

  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives, identifying areas to reduce waste and improve efficiency.


Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with automated machinery and control systems
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods
  • Qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with solid knowledge of both
  • PLC programming experience (advantageous)
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering – higher qualifications desirable
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness
  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility
  • Reside within a commutable distance of the site
  • Must have right to work in the UK
