2020 Recruitment are working with an Edinburgh manufacturing client who are looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their team.
This is a permanent position where the successful candidate will be working on a 4 on 4 off rotation of 12-hour shifts both days and nights.
The Multi-Skilled Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime, and supporting the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.
The Role
As the Multi-Skilled Engineer you will perform both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of machinery, including extruders, conveyors, granulators, and cooling systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
As the Multi-Skilled Engineer your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Electrical and Mechanical Support - Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues, utilizing a hands-on approach to resolve breakdowns efficiently.
- Process Optimization - Collaborate with the production and quality teams to improve machine performance and product quality. Make recommendations for enhancements to the extrusion process.
- Preventative Maintenance - Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to maximize machinery uptime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Installation and Commissioning - Assist with the installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Health & Safety - Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company standards, promoting a safe working environment.
- Documentation - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and any modifications made to equipment.
- Continuous Improvement - Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, helping to identify and implement process improvements that reduce waste and increase efficiency.
Requirements
To be considered for the Multi-Skilled Engineer you must have the following:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with automated machinery and control systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering with good knowledge of both disciplines. PLC programming experience is an advantage.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related field. A higher qualification or degree in engineering is desirable.
