Operations Manager - Renfrewshire

We have a fantastic new position for our engineering client based in Renfrew who are seeking an Operations Manager to join their expanding team on a permanent basis.

This is a key managerial role within their facility in which you will be responsible for the day to day running of the facility. This covers all aspects of tendering for new work and executing the delivery of work already won. Leading by example and from the front driving best practice across the business whilst mentoring and developing the staff base.

You should possess 10 years minimum relevant industry experience with a demonstrable track record of winning, managing and delivering projects in the heavy manufacture/fabrication industry.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Assist with tender package review for all new enquiries 
  • Planning, cost and complete tender submissions 
  • Manage day to day running of the facility which includes but not limited to:
  • Client liaison
  • Managing schedules and ensuring all deliverables and milestones for all projects won by the Company are met
  • Continually review resources required for the successful running of the Company and ensure these are well planned with any shortfalls or excess having suitable resolution plans in place to maximise throughput and profit
  • Manage the recruitment requirements for the Company ensuring HR policies and interviewing process are followed
  • Support and provide to the Managing Director/General Manager budget and reports on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Ensure you are fully aware of all Company project scopes and the terms and conditions under which are executed for all of the Company work
  • Effectively and comprehensively manage capturing changes to all contract scopes and raising variation orders for client authorisation where required
  • Manage collation of all billable items (such as hours, lumpsum payments, expenses, third party costs, etc.) due under the contract core scope and any variation orders on regular basis and ensure these issued on time and in line with their contracts
  • Ensure the Company meets all legislative requirements for operating in its field of expertise and individual and Group insurance policies are up to date and fit for the Company’s purposes
  • Manage the staff base of the Company
  • Ensure the office and workshop areas are fully supplied with the services that are required to run the business. This includes ensuring there is a suitable and secure IT system in place.
  • It will also be your responsibility to build and develop a strong team bond and unit and ensure all those within your management scope are being constantly and positively developed.
  • Where required, assume the role of a Senior Project Manager on contracts and fully manage projects to same standard as expected of Group Senior Project Managers.
  • Support the development of marketing efforts and materials required for same, including contract records for the Company and associated items.
  • Promote the Group’s QA and HSE policies and ensure adherence to these standards within the Company.
  • Promote, and actively assist with, the development and improvement of Group QAHSE procedures, work instructions, technical standards and internal reference materials.
  • Promote and responsibly represent the Group and the Company’s companies stated mission and goals in all aspects of your professional life.
  • This role will be to support in all respects the Managing Director/General Manager of the business acting as his/her delegate when required.
