Covering the Tayside Region this permanent position offers the opportunity to work on various projects and industries as well as a clear progression plan to further develop your career.
As the Planner or Senior Planner, you will be working on projects valuing from a few hundred thousand to a multi – millions.
The Role
As the Planner or Senior Planner you will be responsible for the preparation and updating of Project Programmes for both bid and contract stages, and the regular monitoring and reporting of project progress against programme.
Duties & Responsibilities
As the Planner or Senior Planner your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide planning support to business unit bids through the preparation of bid stage programmes, the appraisal of site constraints, type and size of build, location, client cost and programme indicators, design details and any other available information
- Assist the team in the detailed development of Tender Programmes, liaising with key supply chain partners to achieve supply chain ‘buy–in’, and produce fully logic linked programme
- Manage the transfer of programme from bid to contract stage, including programme assumptions, resource and productivity output calculations, supply chain agreements, supporting logistics, time risk allowances and opportunities
- The development of Tender Programmes, in conjunction with the Operations / Project Manager and Planning Manager, to provide a full suite of Contract Programmes.
- To ensure that the Contract Programmes reflect agreed Supply Chain requirements, including design, procurement, manufacture and installation together with any interface with other trades
- To assist in the preparation of Master Information Delivery Plans and Procurement Schedules with the project management team
- Regular monitoring and recording of Project Progress against critical path on both the Client Programme and DPC programme and commentary on consumption of float
- The preparation of progress reports, in conjunction with the Project Manager, for both external client reporting and internal contract review.
Senior Planner Duties:
- Where required, co-ordinate and assist in the preparation and presentation of bid appraisal material for regional Board settlement and Client presentations / interviews.
- Assume an auditing role across live sites as appropriate for planning and programming and provide regular updates on risks to the Planning Manager and Operations teams.
- Where required, assist in the preparation of delay analysis scenarios and collation of reports, in conjunction with Project Management Teams.
- Assist in the development of planning procedures including regional protocol for bid and construction stage planning, programme control and reporting.
- Assist in the compilation and updating of regional and Group project databases containing project information, including as-built data, and make available as an internal resource for future programming.
- Engage in the development of planning software solutions to meet business needs, including 4D BIM
- Where required, deputise for the Planning Manager at site and other team meetings.
- Provide coaching and development input to others to enable performance and capability development
- Provide peer reviews and appraise perceived project risks
- Any other reasonable task in line with business requirements.
Requirements
To be considered for the Planner or Senior Planner role you must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of design, procurement and commercial processes, and the interdependencies and impact on planning and programming
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of first principles planning, including the use of productivity outputs and resource analysis
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the principles of Critical Path Analysis (CPA), and its application in forecasting programme position
- Understand and utilise the management procedures for project programming and progress reporting
- Demonstrate good working knowledge of construction technology, modern construction techniques and time and resource management
- Demonstrate sound analytical and problem-solving skills
- Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts, and work as a team member
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems in a customer focused manner
- Able to independently maintain programmes and other time related material
- Computer literate - ability to utilise Elecosoft Asta Power Project, Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams
- Full driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
Senior Planner Requirements:
- Significant experience in tenders and contracts administered under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Demonstrate in sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts, and work as a team member
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems in a customer focused manner.
- Able to independently maintain programmes and other time related material
- Able to collaborate with the Digital Team to identify and develop new systems and continuous improvement in the use of digital technologies and applications
