Six-month contract | Minimum £15.00 per hour gross | Immediate start

2020 Recruitment are working with our industrial gases client who are looking to add a Plant Operator to their Aberdeen depot.

This is an initial six-month contract working Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. The successful candidate will join a hands-on operation, supporting the safe filling, handling and loading of gas cylinders.

The Role

As the Plant Operator, you will operate filling equipment, carry out product checks and prepare cylinders for distribution. You will work with electrical motors, cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps, filling systems and cylinder handling equipment.

Safety, product quality and accurate record keeping are essential parts of this position.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Plant Operator, your duties will include:

  • Safely operating equipment to fill cylinders with gases and gas mixtures in accordance with operating procedures

  • Moving and connecting cylinders to filling points and loading them into pallets

  • Supporting loading and unloading activities using a forklift truck once trained and authorised

  • Inspecting, cleaning, painting and labelling cylinders, including carrying out minor repairs within your responsibilities

  • Receiving incoming product and checking that it meets the required specification

  • Analysing starting and finished products to confirm quality and prevent contamination

  • Completing analytical instrument calibration checks

  • Maintaining clear, accurate and permanent process and quality records

  • Reporting equipment faults, operational issues and products that do not meet specification

  • Following site safety and environmental procedures, including wearing the required PPE

  • Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions to protect yourself and your colleagues

Requirements

To be considered for the Plant Operator position, you must have the following:

  • A minimum of a City & Guilds qualification in a mechanical discipline, or an NVQ equivalent

  • A practical approach to operating equipment and following procedures

  • Good attention to detail when completing records and checking product quality

  • A strong commitment to safe working practices

  • The ability to work effectively within a team

  • The right to work in the UK

A forklift truck licence would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Package

As the Plant Operator, you will be offered the following:

  • Gross pay of at least £15.00 per hour, with the rate dependent on experience

  • An initial six-month contract

  • Monday-to-Friday working hours

  • A 39-hour working week

  • Forklift training where required

  • An immediate start

This assignment falls inside IR35.
