2020 Recruitment are working with an international manufacturer who are looking to add a Production Engineer to their team in Dunfermline.

This is a permanent position and would be an ideal for a recent Graduate or someone early in their career who is keen to take on a mix of machining, production, and development work.

To be considered you must have a degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics or similar).

The Role

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on mechanical or manufacturing engineering graduate who wants to grow in a practical environment. The role blends workshop exposure with engineering development work, ideal for someone who’s technically curious, eager to learn, and comfortable getting stuck in.

You’ll work directly with the technical lead and support a wide range of production and process tasks, from machine setup to R&D projects. This is not a traditional desk-based job. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with machinery, learning by doing, and growing into a broader engineering role over time.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Production Engineer your duties will include the following:

  • Assist with setup, operation, and improvement of production equipment and processes
  • Learn to work with CNC machines, robots, and PLC systems
  • Support the design and improvement of components and layouts
  • Be involved in building, commissioning, and maintaining machinery
  • Help ensure product standards are met and properly recorded
  • Contribute to new development and innovation projects in the workshop
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and production staff on daily challenges

Requirements

To be considered for Production Engineer you must have the following:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
  • Strong mechanical understanding and a hands-on approach
  • Willingness to learn machining and automation tools (e.g. CNC, robotics, PLCs)
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • A practical mindset and readiness to work in a workshop environment
