Production Planner - Ayrshire

2020 Recruitment are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Manufacturing Production Planner to their team in North Ayrshire.

This role sits at the heart of the operation and is responsible for planning and controlling the critical path manufacturing routing of engineering sales orders. If you like structure, problem-solving, and keeping production moving, this is a role where you’ll add real value from day one.

The Manufacturing Production Planner will report directly to the Operations Manager and work closely with engineering, production, and commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are met on time and in full.

The Role

As Manufacturing Production Planner, you will be responsible for creating and managing manufacturing routings using the company ERP system, ensuring all work orders are aligned with engineering drawings, specifications, and delivery deadlines.

You’ll play a key role in translating engineering detail into practical manufacturing plans across machining, fabrication, welding, inspection, coating, assembly, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

As the Manufacturing Production Planner your duties will include:

  • Produce work orders and manufacturing routings in line with customer engineering drawings and specifications
  • Plan and manage the critical path of engineering sales orders to support on-time delivery
  • Use the company ERP system to generate, issue, and maintain accurate production data
  • Identify required manufacturing processes from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with production, engineering, and operations teams to resolve planning or capacity issues
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the planning function
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders to keep production running smoothly

Requirements

To be consider for the Manufacturing Production Planner role you must have the following:

  • Previous experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Ideally 2–3 years’ experience in a planning or production planning role
  • Strong technical awareness and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, inspection, coating, assembly, and testing
  • Confident user of ERP systems and computer databases
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A clear, effective communicator who can work across departments
  • Flexible and solutions-focused approach
  • Right to work in the UK and within a commutable distance of North Ayrshire
