Proposals Engineer / Internal Sales Engineer

Location: Dunfermline, Fife
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 1 day working from home

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am – 4.30pm

  • Friday: 8.30am – 1.00pm

About the Role

2020 Recruitment is working with an established engineering company in Dunfermline that is looking to appoint a Proposals Engineer / Internal Sales Engineer to join its team on a permanent basis.

This opportunity would ideally suit someone from a utilities, mechanical or electrical engineering background who enjoys working with customers, preparing quotations and finding practical solutions to technical requirements.

The successful candidate will support the external sales team, manage customer enquiries and prepare accurate, commercially competitive quotations and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotations based on customer specifications and requirements.

  • Provide technical and commercial support to external Technical Sales Engineers.

  • Respond professionally to customer enquiries by telephone and email.

  • Review technical specifications to identify suitable products and engineering solutions.

  • Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and technical information.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.

  • Identify opportunities to provide additional products and services where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate customer records, quotations and correspondence using internal CRM systems.

  • Support internal sales, purchasing and administration activities.

  • Ensure quotations and proposals are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

Skills & Experience

  • A background in utilities, mechanical, electrical or general engineering.

  • Previous experience in internal sales, technical quotations, estimating or proposals would be advantageous.

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical specifications.

  • Good commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Confident using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
