2020 Recruitment is working with an established engineering company in Dunfermline that is looking to appoint a Proposals Engineer to join its team on a permanent basis. This is a 40 hour working week.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical engineering background who enjoys working with customers, preparing quotations and providing practical solutions to engineering requirements.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the external sales team, managing customer enquiries and producing accurate, commercially competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive quotations based on customer specifications and requirements.

• Provide technical and commercial support to external Technical Sales Engineers.

• Respond professionally to customer enquiries by telephone and email.

• Review technical information to identify suitable products and engineering solutions.

• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and technical specifications.

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with existing and prospective customers.

• Identify opportunities to provide additional products and services where appropriate.

• Maintain accurate customer records, quotations and correspondence using internal CRM systems.

• Support purchasing and sales administration activities.

• Ensure quotations and proposals are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

Skills & Experience

• A background in mechanical, electrical or general engineering.

• Previous experience in proposals, estimating, technical sales or engineering quotations would be advantageous.

• Ability to understand and interpret technical specifications.

• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Confident using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

• A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
