The Opportunity

2020 Recruitment are working with a well-established organisation in Glenrothes that is looking to appoint an experienced QHSE Manager.

You will take ownership of the site's quality, health and safety, and environmental systems, ensuring they remain compliant, effective and embedded within day-to-day operations. Working closely with operational and engineering teams, you will have the authority to challenge existing practices, influence people at every level and lead improvements that make a genuine difference.

The Role

As QHSE Manager, you will be the site lead for quality, environmental and health and safety matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining, developing and continuously improving management systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other relevant standards.
  • Leading all site health and safety activity in accordance with UK legislation and internal procedures.
  • Completing risk assessments, safe systems of work, incident investigations and corrective action plans.
  • Leading internal and external audits and ensuring actions are followed through to completion.
  • Monitoring and reporting QHSE KPIs, using data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Working closely with operations and engineering teams to maintain product quality and safe working environments.
  • Leading root cause analysis and investigations into non-conformances, incidents and recurring issues.
  • Ensuring environmental obligations are met, including waste management and statutory reporting.
  • Keeping policies, procedures and compliance records accurate, current and accessible.
  • Liaising with external auditors, environmental bodies and HSE representatives when required.
  • Delivering training and clear communications that strengthen a proactive quality and safety culture.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a credible and experienced QHSE professional who can balance strong technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach.

  • Proven experience in a quality, environmental and health and safety role within manufacturing, engineering, logistics or another industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, together with relevant UK health and safety legislation including RIDDOR and COSHH.
  • A NEBOSH qualification or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
  • Experience developing, maintaining and improving QMS and HSE management systems.
  • Confidence conducting audits, risk assessments and incident or non-conformance investigations.
  • The ability to analyse data, produce clear reports and turn findings into practical actions.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and hold people to account.
  • A methodical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to remain calm during audits, incidents or periods of pressure.

What Success Looks Like

During your first three months, you will be supported to understand the site, build relationships and establish clear priorities. Early success will include:

  • Reviewing the site's risk profile and identifying priority areas.
  • Building strong relationships with operational leaders and the wider management team.
  • Reviewing QHSE documentation, training and compliance status, with any gaps clearly actioned.
  • Establishing an effective internal audit schedule.
  • Ensuring corrective actions are tracked and closed out.
  • Using QHSE performance measures to drive visible, sustainable improvements.
