To support the continued growth of their sustainability efforts, we are seeking an experienced Contract Manager, Product Sustainability & Customer Engagement on an initial 6 month contract basis tto lead strategy and implementation across customer engagement and sustainable product portfolio programs.

Reporting directly to the VP, Global Sustainability, the successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external customer teams, as well as key partners in R&D, sourcing, and IT, to drive product sustainability initiatives including certifications, footprint assessments, and data management improvements.

This role is ideal for a professional with strong technical knowledge of sustainable product development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Full time working hours of 38 hours per week with a focus on afternoon working to ensure overlap with US working hours to collaborate with the US team and participate in meetings.


Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a product life-cycle pilot project, coordinating cross-functional teams to collect data, document processes, and recommend improvements to sustainability platforms and procedures.
  • Manage the company’s Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP) program - reviewing submissions, educating suppliers on program standards, and partnering with IT to enhance data management.
  • Maintain and update promotional and educational materials, such as sustainability brochures, supplier communications, and online resource libraries.
  • Support commercial and sales teams in customer engagement, communicating the company’s sustainability strategy and product initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate sustainability certifications for selected products, including ACT labels.
  • Serve as an internal sustainability expert, advising R&D, Sourcing, Portfolio Management, and Packaging teams on sustainable design practices.
  • Develop communications tools and resources to support Sourcing, Marketing, and Commercial teams in promoting environmentally responsible products and services.

Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, and Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, green chemistry, product design, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience applying ecodesign and life cycle thinking in a business environment.
  • Strong record of success working within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or health sectors is advantageous.
  • Prior experience working within global or multicultural teams preferred.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Cradle-to-Gate methodologies is a plus.

Benefits

This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere in the UK.

Salary is ranging from £58,500 to £68,250 per annum.
