Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm | Friday 8:00am – 3:00pm

2020 Recruitment are working with our manufacturing client who are looking to add an experienced Toolmaker / Tool Maintenance Technician to their engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional to join a well-established business where you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the tooling used within a modern manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair and improvement of tooling, dies, jigs and fixtures, ensuring equipment performs efficiently and production requirements are met.
The Role
As a Toolmaker / Tool Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing tooling and associated equipment used in the production of precision metal components.
Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications, you will utilise a range of hand tools, conventional machinery and CNC equipment to manufacture, modify and maintain tooling to the highest standards.
You will also support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve tooling performance, reliability and manufacturing processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manufacture, maintain and repair tooling, dies, jigs and fixtures
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation
- Carry out fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance on tooling and associated equipment
- Test, inspect and adjust tooling to ensure compliance with required specifications
- Operate a range of workshop machinery including CNC lathes, milling machines, grinding equipment, erosion machinery and welding equipment
- Use measuring equipment to ensure components meet quality standards
- Carry out preventative planned maintenance activities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and process control faults where required
- Support production teams by ensuring tooling availability and reliability
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and identify opportunities to enhance processes and working practices
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety and quality procedures
What We're Looking For
- Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering qualification (Toolmaking / Tool & Die Maintenance) or equivalent
- HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline would be advantageous
- Time-served apprenticeship within Toolmaking, Manufacturing or Engineering preferred
- Previous experience as a Toolmaker, Tool Maintenance Technician, Tool & Die Technician or similar role
- Strong understanding of toolmaking principles and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools
- Right to work in the UK
- Live within a commutable distance of Wakefield
