Welding Supervisor - Renfrewshire

We are looking for Welding Supervisors / Welding Foremen for our large engineering client in Renfrew. Work is expected to start ASAP and expected to last until April 2023.

As Welding Foreman you will be involved in the planning and execution of welding related activities for each and every project. You will have strong leadership capabilities and aim to mentor all welding personnel in a right first-time attitude. Daily and weekly reporting requirements to your line manager and any other works as deemed relevant to the role.

 

Hourly rate is £21.46 PAYE plus Holiday Pay and Overtime.

Umbrella is an option.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years working experience within a similar role/environment.

• HNC educated in a relevant discipline. Welding/Fabrication etc. or relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proven experience within a large-scale fabrication environment.

• Sound knowledge of manual welding processes.

• The ability to troubleshoot and be proactive in their approach to managing a diverse workforce.

• Proficient in the use of IT applications including MS office suite.

• Great communication skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels.

• H&S awareness always.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety-first culture
  • Ensure Route cards are completed in line with Project activities
  • Promote a right first-time mentality in quality
  • Complete activities in line with schedule and in Budget
  • Report progress weekly to production manager
  • Review production build sequence, Creating Learning from Experience
  • Drawing interpretation to ensure works are carried out safely and correctly.
  • Ensuring minimum downtime on any given task, by means of forward thinking to ensure resource is utilized correctly.
  • Coach and mentor to instill a right first-time culture.
  • Be accountable for own actions and ensure all welders are responsible for their workmanship.
  • Monitor performance and report any issues to line manager.
  • Liaise with Quality team to ensure seamless inspection process
  • Hold daily toolbox talks with the team, updating on all Safety, quality, schedule, and company info.
  • Complete shift handover document where required
  •  Be responsible for the day to day running of all welding personnel and related tasks.
  •  Welding consumable stock control.
  • Ensure weld logs are complete daily and submitted to quality.
