Yard Operative - Fife

2020 Recruitment are proud to be working with our Kirkcaldy based client who are looking for a Yard Operative to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a physically demanding job and the successful candidate must be comfortable working outside and on their own, although the team will grow in time.

A Counterbalance Forklift Truck is on site and having a licence for this would be a huge advantage.

The Role

As the Yard Operative you will be responsible for building pallets to be reused and moving these around site on the forklift. You will also ensure that the yard is kept tidy and free of any potential hazards at all times.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the Yard Operative your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Repairing old pallets to be used again.
  • Disposing of unsalvageable pallets and materials.
  • Operating the forklift to a high degree.
  • Maintain accurate records of pallet grades, quantities, and movements as required by company procedures.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to material handling.
  • Maintain a clean and safe yard at all times.

Requirements

To be considered for the Yard Operative role you must have the following experience:

  • Hard working with a good attitude is essential
  • Experience of working within a physical environment
  • Ability to work outdoors no matter the weather
  • Good communication skills and the ability to raise any concerns
  • A forklift licence is not essential but highly advantageous
  • Good health and safety awareness
